Message From Our Pastor

A very important letter from the Search Committee is included in this message! This letter invites members and friends of the church to attend a special candidating service to consider a call to the Rev. Catherine Hinman to become the newly elected pastor of The United Church Of Christ in Medford. This will happen on June 1 at 9 A.M. Read on...

We hope you will enjoy our May/June Newsletter. To access it, just click on Newsletters. If you would like a copy of our newsletter (black and white) contact the church office by phone (715 748 3391) or email (medforducc@tds.net). We'll be happy to mail you one.

This Sunday, May 18, is Trinity Sunday. There will be a part of the sermon that touches on issues of race in America. As Karl Barth and Dwight Moody said, to paraphrase, preaching should take place with the Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other. It will be very low key and based on our unity in community and not our differences. We have been invited to take part in this discussion by many other UCC Churches in America. We want to do this in a respectful and loving manner, one that reflects the spirit of community through a deeper understanding how God calls us to be in community as the community of faith in Jesus.

On May 18 there will be a celebration of Sunday School: Kids, teachers, and many volunteers. We'll have a pot luck and softball-tball. There will also be a recognition of high school graduates and a big thank you to all the participants in this year's Sunday School.

Come for a great day!

A LETTER TO THE CONGREGATION (From the Search Committee)

The Search Committee is extremely excited to inform you of our pastoral recommendation. We will be introducing Reverend Catherine Hinman to the congregation on June 1st, and she will be conducting the morning worship service. This is a good opportunity for you to take an active role in our church's future, when we consider calling her as our pastor.

Reverend Hinman has a practical and warm approach to her ministry, as the Search Committee observed while she led worship at a neutral pulpit recently. Come and see if you agree with our impression of her as the right pastor for us. She and her family currently are living in Massachusetts, and she comes with 9+ years of experience in ministry as a church pastor.

Reverend Hinman has requested a pot luck gathering on Saturday, May 31st, to meet the congregation, at 6 P.M. She and Roger would like some informal time to meet and talk. She also requested names of homebound members whom she could possibly visit during her brief visit with us that weekend. Please plan to join us!

Search Committee

If you are looking for a church home and family to worship with, please join us!

Peace and Blessings, Interim Pastor David McBride.
